3 Things You May Want To Know About Electrical Motors That Power Your Mechanical Systems

Posted on: 13 September 2016

There are many different components of mechanical systems in your home that use electrical motors. This can be the motor on a blower in your HVAC, a water pump, or in-home automation systems. Sometimes, completely replacing these things can be very costly, which is why you may want to consider some options to renovate these systems. Here are some of the things that you may want to know about the mechanical systems in your home that use DC motors:

1. Checking Other Mechanical Components Causing Motors To Fail

Sometimes, the problem with electrical motors may not be the motor itself. It can often be other mechanical components. This can be things like the turbine inside a water pump, a broken or jammed gear, or a chain that is broken. Before you take your electric motor in to be repaired, have some of these other components of systems to ensure that the motor does not need to be repaired. If you test these parts and the motor does not work, it probably needs to be repaired by a DC motor repair service.

2. Removing A DC Motor From Its Casing To Save On Repairs Of Mechanical Systems

Once you have determined that the problem is an electric motor, it will need to be removed to be rebuilt. If you have a mechanical technician inspect the system with the problem, you can ask them to give you the motor. If you check the problem yourself, you will want to remove the motor from the mounts and cut the wires loose to take it to be repaired. Make sure that you leave enough wire to splice when you remove the motor.

3. Rebuilding Electric Motors Or Turning Them In For A Deposit For Repairs

One of the things that can be done with electric motors is rebuilding them. This is a delicate process where the copper wiring is removed, cleaned, and redone. If there is a broken magnet, bearings or other components, the DC motor repair service will replace them for you. The repair service may also have motors that you can trade your old motor for and pay a minimum for their previous labor and they will keep your old motor to rebuild and sell to someone else.

These are some things that you may want to know about the mechanical systems in your home that use DC motors. If something in your home has quit working, contact an electric motor repair service, like Hackworth Electric Motors Inc., and talk with them about rebuilding or replacing the motor. Often they may have the working motor in stock that you need for repairs.
